Privacy Policy
Plain English Summary: At FancyDoing, we believe planning your perfect day shouldn't cost you your privacy. We collect only the data necessary to power your Itinerary Builder, secure your bookings with our partners (like Viator), and connect you with local Indie Hosts. We do not sell your personal data. Below is the detailed legal explanation of how we protect your information.
1. Introduction
Welcome to FancyDoing ("we", "our", "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information when you access or use our website (www.fancydoing.com), application, and services (collectively, the "Platform"), whether as a traveler ("Explorer") or an independent experience provider ("Host").
FancyDoing operates under the jurisdiction of England and Wales and complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Information We Collect
To provide our dual-marketplace and itinerary services, we must collect certain information. We categorize this as follows:
Identity & Contact Data: First name, last name, email address, phone number, and account passwords (encrypted).
Host-Specific Data: If you register as a Host, we collect business names, operational addresses, verification documents, and necessary payment routing information (handled via secure third-party processors).
Booking & Itinerary Data: Your selected travel cities, dates, group sizes, and the specific experiences (Iconic or Indie Gems) you add to your Itinerary Builder.
Technical Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types, operating system, and device information.
Usage Data: Information on how you interact with our Platform, including search persistence, page views, and navigation paths (the "Dotted Path" interactions).
3. How We Use Your Information
We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we use it for the following purposes:
Service Delivery: To create and maintain your account, save your Itinerary Builder progress, and facilitate the "Search Persistence" feature across our pages.
Booking Fulfillment: To transmit necessary reservation details to our third-party partners (Viator) or directly to local Indie Hosts so they can expect your arrival.
Platform Functionality: To operate the interactive Google Maps features and auto-route your schedule.
Communication: To send booking confirmations, platform updates, and respond to customer support inquiries.
Security & Fraud Prevention: To verify Host identities and protect the platform against unauthorized access or automated scraping.
4. How We Share Your Information
This section protects your liability regarding third-party data handling.
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with specific third parties under strict conditions:
Third-Party Booking Partners (Viator/Tripadvisor): When you book an "Iconic" experience, we must pass your booking data (e.g., name, contact info, date of tour) via API to Viator to secure your ticket. Once transferred, this data is also subject to Viator's Privacy Policy.
Indie Hosts: When you reserve a "Local Gem" to pay at the venue, we share your name and contact details with the independent Host to secure your reservation. Hosts are strictly prohibited from using this data for anything other than fulfilling your specific booking.
Service Providers: We share necessary technical data with trusted infrastructure providers, including Google (for Google Maps APIs), cloud hosting providers (e.g., AWS/Google Cloud), and analytics providers.
Legal & Regulatory Authorities: We may disclose information if required by UK law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of FancyDoing, our users, or the public.
5. International Data Transfers
Because FancyDoing integrates with global partners like Viator (based in the US) and Google, your data may be transferred outside the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA). Whenever we transfer your personal data out of the UK, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by ensuring at least one of the following safeguards is implemented:
- Transferring data to countries deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data.
- Using specific contracts approved for use in the UK (Standard Contractual Clauses) which give personal data the same protection it has in the UK.
6. Data Security & Retention
We have implemented appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered, or disclosed. However, no internet-based platform is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or reporting requirements.
7. Your Legal Rights (UK GDPR)
Under UK data protection laws, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:
Request Access: The right to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Request Correction: The right to have any incomplete or inaccurate data corrected.
Request Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): The right to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it.
Object to Processing: The right to object where we are relying on a legitimate interest and it impacts your fundamental rights.
Request Data Portability: The right to have your data transferred to you or a third party in a structured, machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at: privacy@fancydoing.com
8. Third-Party Links & Interfaces
Our Platform includes integrations with Google Maps. By using our map and routing features, you are also bound by the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Our site may also contain links to third-party websites (such as Host portfolios). We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We keep our Privacy Policy under regular review. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
